Residents living in the Columbus city limits can place their yard waste curbside for collection by
the Sanitation Department the day after their normal trash pick-up. Call the City of
Columbus Sanitation Department @ 376-2509 for more information.
Loose Leaf Pick-up
Residents can now rake their loose leaves to the curb, not in the street, and get them
picked up the day after their regular trash collection. This program is for loose leaves
only. No other yard waste or trash is allowed.
City of Columbus Containerized Yard Waste Collection
Residents living within the Columbus City limits must purchase a specialty cart for collection of grass, garden waste and flowers from April through November 30th. The carts can be used for leaves until November 30th but the preferred method would be to rake leaves to the curb (See Loose Leaf Pick-up above). Yard waste will not be picked up in bags or personal trash cans. The city approved toters for yard waste in either 64- or 96-gallon size may be purchased at Lowe's Home Improvement. All material must be free of any trash or foreign debris. The following is a list of material accepted:
Grass/Weeds/Leaves/Thatch
Flowers
Garden Waste
Sunflower Stalks
Corn Stalks
Pine Cones/Needles
Tree Fruit/Nuts
Sod/Dirt
