Bartholomew County Rural Recycling Program :
Bartholomew County has a rural recycling program for residents that live in outlying areas. Areas listed are serviced on Saturday's only, once per month, from 8:00am - 11:00am and 1:00pm - 3:00pm. Do not leave recyclables at the site if the attendant is not there. The following is a list of those satellite sites, the Saturday they can be accessed and the materials that are accepted.

Day of the Month & Location:
  • 1st Saturday of the Month - Kroger Store
  • 2nd Saturday of the Month - Hope Utilities Garage
  • 3rd Saturday of the Month - Kroger Store
  • 4th Saturday of the Month - Hope Utilities Garage
Materials Accepted:
  • Glass
    • Clear, green and brown bottles and jars. Rinse and remove lids. No other glass accepted.
  • Metals
    • Food cans, aluminum foil and beverage cans.
  • Plastic
    • PET. Accepting all colors and sizes of plastic bottles. Bottles must be empty with lids removed.
    HDPE. Milk jugs, detergent containers, shampoo bottles or any other # 2 marked container with a line or seam across the bottom. Must be empty with lids removed. No motor oil containers accepted.
  • Cardboard
    • Corrugated boxes and paperboard (cereal type boxes). Flatten and fold to no larger than 3’ x 3’ in size. No waxed cardboard or paperboard. Keep dry.
  • Junk-Mail/Mixed Paper
    • Includes colored and white office paper. Can be mixed with the junk-mail then placed in the marked container.
  • Magazines
    • Magazines must be kept separate from all other paper and placed in the proper container.
  • Paper
    • Newspaper, junk mail and magazines. Please sort. Bring in bundles or Kraft sacks. Keep dry.
  • Batteries
    • Household batteries only.
